Dr Jan Zonnestein

Principal Dentist

Dr Zonnestein qualified as a dentist with a B.Ch D degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 1986. After completing his compulsory two year national service in Oudtshoorn he spent approximately six years in the UK practicing as a general dentist in Luton and Stevenage (Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire).

In 1996 he settled in Knysna permanently where he has been practicing from the current location right in the heart of Knysna. His special interest is crown and bridge work, esthetic dentistry, complete dental makeovers and recreating smiles.

Dr Zonnestein is married to Rhona, who has a Master's Degree in Science from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OHIO, a lady from Albertinia and they are blessed with two wonderful girls, Belinda and Margeaux. In his spare time he is an enthusiastic mountain biker, adventure racer and loves to do woodwork. Belinda has a Master's Degree in Innovative and Technology Management, Bath University, UK. Belinda is working at British American Tobacco in Southampton, UK. Margeaux graduated as Graphic Designer from Stellenbosch Academy for Design and Photography. Margeaux is a Designer at Kumon Europe and Africa Limited, in London.

Dr Corlia Potgieter

Dentist

Dr Corlia Potgieter graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2010. During 2011 did her community service year in Bethlehem, Free State. Thereafter worked for 2 years in private practice with Dr Jan Zonnestein in Knysna. Dr Corlia returned to Pretoria in 2014 where she got married to her husband Danie.

In 2014 she continued working in private practice in Centurion in Pretoria and also started to work as a part time lecturer at the University of Pretoria. Since June 2015 (until her return to Knysna on 1st of July 2023, dr Corlia worked at the same private, Smile Dental Practice, Brooklyn as well as being a part-time lecturer (clinical supervisor) for dental students in the clinical wards at the Oral & Dental Hospital (University of Pretoria). Specifically in the Paediatric Wards and Endodontic (Root Canal) Wards. My special interest in Paediatric Dentistry motivated me to continue my studies; obtained my Post-Graduate Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry, at University of Pretoria, 2017. Nearly 10years after originally working in Knysna, Dr Corlia and her husband Danie got the wonderful opportunity to return to the beautiful Knysna from start of July 2023.

I am passionate about dentistry in general, although working with kids and patients with special needs will always have a special place. I absolutely love being a dentist.”

Dr Alfie Goosen

Dentist

Dr. Alfie Goosen earned his B.Ch D Degree in Dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch in 1989. Following his completion of national service in De Aar, he served as an associate principal in Port Elizabeth for four years and later worked with the Medicross Dental Group until 1999.

In 1999, Dr. Goosen relocated with his family to the United Kingdom, where he gained extensive experience in various dental practices, including sedation clinics, private practices, and the National Health Service (NHS). He has a particular passion for endodontics. For the past 25 years, Dr. Goosen has practiced dentistry in the UK, contributing his expertise to both private practices and a corporate dental group. Recently, he has had the privilege of returning to South Africa to join Dr. Zonnestein's practice in Knysna.

Dr. Goosen is married to Maretha, known as Anna in the UK, whom he met at the University of Stellenbosch. She holds a degree in Nursing from the same institution. They have two daughters, both of whom graduated in the UK. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Goosen is an avid photographer and enjoys hiking in his free time.
